MEET ATANIE

Atanie Laurient . . . a name very few people have ever heard.  But for those who knew her, it is a name they will never forget.

Atanie was a 4-year old little girl who lived in the remote village of Coq Chante – located in the mountains of southern Haiti, nestled high above the city of Jacmel.

Atanie was the youngest of 18 little orphaned girls, who lived in an orphanage, which was located on the 2nd story of a church and school building that served as the social hub of the community.  The school, church, and orphanage are operated by Poor Children’s Assistance Project, the life’s work of Haitian pastor, Nicolas Louis Juste.

Atanie was killed on January 12, 2010 when the orphanage collapsed in the earthquake. The story of her life can not be summed up by the number of her days.
